transContinental and Technology
Each division of TransContinental runs on dedicated operating software systems, the majority of which have been designed and built by TransContinental’s in house software development Team. We believe our commitment to technology is an investment in our future and we work directly with our clients to develop interfaces between their systems and our own.

iBook

In 2005 TransContinental developed iBook – an online account management system. Designed to be fast, simple & efficient, iBook allows customers to make and manage online bookings at the press of a button. Over 80% of our customer’s now book online. Ibook allows our customers to instantly clear invoices on line, see POD’s in real time and view or download invoices by department or cost centre. Full account management functionality and a booking process which can be completed in a few clicks.

 

Watchdog

In 2006 we built a programme designed to assist our operations department in managing our delivery schedules. At that time we only became aware of issues with deliveries when the delivery had already become a problem. This programme acts as an early warning system to ensure SLA’s are consistently met. Where we have a SLA with a client this system will now highlight for our Operations Supervisor that a given job is in danger of breaching the terms of the SLA for that client. At that point we can proactively manage the situation to prevent the delivery breaching the SLA.

 

XDA

In 2009 we switched our fleet from traditional two way radio communication to XDA technology. The moment a booking is made it travels electronically to a drivers hand held device. When the consignment is collected the time of collection is automatically recorded. When the booking is complete a time stamped electronic signature travels back and is available for the customer to view in real time. Like the iBook system, TransContinental was the first company in Dublin to introduce this technology.

 

Clickacourier

In 2011 a lot of our clients had downsized their businesses and did not want to operate traditional credit account facilities for low value transactions. We built clickacourier.ie – an online booking engine which allows customers to get quotes for courier journeys, pay on line by credit card and receive a VAT receipt and immediate confirmation of delivery by email. This “user friendly” system has proven very effective and is popular with both business and personal users.

 

2Flow

In 2012 we started work on a software programme for 2Flow (our fulfillment division). We called this system Adept. Adept is a warehouse management, order processing, pick and pack and distribution system. Adept allows us to interface with E tailers shopping cart facilities to build, fulfill and dispatch on line orders.
